Sometimes
you find the dog who makes all of your dreams come true...
And
sometimes, you find the dog who makes you laugh, cry,
scream, throw things, swear you're going to quit, and
turns your world upside down -- and ultimately makes
you grow as an individual. Ally is my first Tervuren,
and she was quite the introduction to the breed. Our
time together has been filled with a lot of laughter
and a lot of tears. Ally is my working partner and she
takes it upon herself to keep me humble.
Above, Ally is pictured at the 2007 ABTC National going 3rd
in Veteran sweeps. She also took 2nd in a very competitive
Veteran bitch class that year. A few years later in 2009, she took an AOM at the GLBTC club show. In 2010, she won the Veteran bitch class at the National and it was probably (okay, definitely) more exciting than my wedding day.

Spring 2009
Right
now, we're working in obedience towards Ally's CDX and we plug away at tracking. Ally really enjoys tracking, but I seem to struggle with actually getting out there and doing it on a regular basis.
Herding
was never our "thing", unfortunately. We put
a lot of time and effort into herding, but a rocky start
and weak foundation took its toll on our herding partnership.
Ally's natural abilities lend her towards being a quiet
dog with good but not unnecessary presence. Any natural
stop or balance was blown out of her with initial training,
so I cannot wager a guess on the type of dog Ally should
have been. Ally learned at a young age she could be
in control, and never quite wanted to relinquish that
control when it came to herding. Nevertheless, we finished
our PT as a team, but never quite put it all together for the Started class.

Ally
doing what she loves best -- agility!!!
She
can run a 5+ yps jumpers course when her handler doesn't
botch something.... After a rough start in training,
we eventually developed a seamless teamwork. I deeply regret not spending more time doing agility with Ally, as she this was her favorite activity. She and
I had a fluid partnership, and I miss trialing her very
much. Our teamwork developed late in life, but the memories,
experiences, and amazing runs vividly remain etched
in my heart.
